Expert Video - How do I mentally prepare for lung cancer surgery?

Professor of nursing, Susan O'Conner-Von, from the University of Minnesota discusses how you can mentally prepare for your lung cancer surgery. With any type of surgery, thoughts of anxiety and having questions are very common. With so much to consider in preparation for and after your lung cancer surgery, Susan has several recommendations to support your mental health and well-being, including: getting answers for anything that may be a source of anxiety for you, having a support group of peers who also share similar experiences with lung cancer, finding spiritual support if you belong to a faith community, leisure activities that lend themselves to the positive rather than negative, yoga, and mindfulness exercises. These options will hopefully help your mental health when preparing for your lung cancer surgery and during your recovery.
