Medical oncologist Dr. Konstantinos Leventakos of Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center discusses the benefits of using NGS with CGP during ongoing lung cancer treatment. He discusses how having genetic testing throughout the course of your cancer treatment can be important since cancer that has been treated can become resistant over time. He explains that biomarker testing can help doctors detect pathways of resistance and allow them to better identify new treatments for you. As genetic testing technology advances, Dr. Leventakos says that this may also lead to new biomarkers to be found which can be helpful for offering additional paths of treatment.
