Dr. Shanda Blackmon, director of The Lung Institute at Baylor College of Medicine, discusses
who can help with your recovery after lung cancer surgery. She says that one of the best ways you can recover
involves finding somebody who can encourage you to stay physically active throughout
your recovery.
Friends and family will be needed to hold you accountable for your healing and they can play a supporting role during your recovery. Dr. Blackmon says it is important for you to have this
support network established before your surgery to ensure your recovery process is as smooth as possible. Lastly, she shares several other important tips you can do before your surgery, in preparation for when you start your recovery at home, to ensure that you will achieve the best outcome.
